In California every employer is required under the California Labor Code to
provide a safe and healthful workplace for his/her employees. Title 8, of the
California Code of Regulations, requires every California employer to have an
effective
Injury and Illness Prevention Program in writing that must be in accord
with T8 CCR Section 3203 of the General Industry Safety Orders. (Additional
requirements for Constructions, Petroleum and Tunnels Sections address specific
industries).
15 postings are required by California state and federal agencies
Employers with over 4 or so employees (varies by state) are legally required
to furnish workers compensation insurance.
Successful applicants approved for participation in Cal/VPP receive state and
national recognition and are exempt from Cal/OSHA programmed
inspections for three years. This frees Cal/OSHA's inspection resources for
visits to other selected establishments and industries.
